Alex Smith does not have to be all smiles in the 49ers locker room after a big win. His starting job was stripped of him after suffering a concussion, and given to a second-year player with a bright future.


After years of having to climb out of the proverbial ditch his career was in, he finally found the top in the 2012 NFC Championship.

His career might have jumped right back in that ditch now that he is the back-up to Colin Kaepernick. However, Smith showed no signs of that in Harbaugh's postgame speech after the 49ers defeated the Patriots on Sunday night.
