Report: Alex Smith, 49ers Finalize Three-Year Deal

The San Francisco 49ers and quarterback Alex Smith have reportedly finalized a contract for three years and $24 million, NBC's Pro Football Talk is reporting.

The deal was the same one offered by the 49ers just two weeks ago that Smith was reportedly unhappy about.


The finalizing of the contract comes just one day after the 49ers lost out on free agent Peyton Manning, who committed to the Denver Broncos on Monday.  Smith reportedly was in Miami over the weekend talking to the Dolphins, who signed quarterback David Garrard on Sunday.



49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh and Smith were reportedly "ironing things out" on Monday, which seems to have led to the signing of Smith on Tuesday.
