Residents Against Warriors' San Francisco Arena Plans, Project's Cost Revealed, etc.

A big week for the Golden State Warriors' proposed San Francisco arena was followed by some expected backlash.

The San Francisco Chronicle's John Cote and John Wildermuth are reporting the residents in the area near the proposed location of Piers 30 and 32 are not happy with the prospects of having to put up with the construction, as well as the even busier streets of San Francisco once the arena is completed in 2017.

The plans revealed earlier this week include a waterfront arena holding 17,500 people, and a 650-space raised parking garage on the land.

The San Francisco Examiner's Mike Billings is also reporting there is a ballpark price for the entirety of the San Francisco arena project.

According to Billings, the arena is still intended to be privately funded, with the entire cost running between $875 million to $975 million.

In comparison, the Dallas Cowboys' monstrosity of a stadium ran near $1.3 billion, and the 49ers' stadium plans in Santa Clara will run them around $1.2 billion.
